A Brief History
DCC Healthcare, one of Europe’s leading healthcare companies and a major division of DCC plc, recognising the potential of the dietary supplements industry acquired EuroCaps Ltd, a manufacturer of softgel capsules based in South Wales, in the 1990s. This acquisition was closely followed by that of Thompson & Capper Ltd (T&C), a manufacturer of tablets and hardshell capsules based in Cheshire. The two sister companies soon developed a close working relationship and had many shared customers. Although two separate companies, because we shared so much already we decided to adopt a name we could share too and became ‘DCC Nutraceuticals Ltd’.
Some of DCC Nutraceuticals customers were buying our softgels and tablets and sending them to a contract packer, so to make their life much easier we added a bottle filling and blister packing facility. More of our customers then started asking if we could provide liquid dosage formats in Stickpacks and bottles. In addition, we recognised many of the ingredients we worked with every day appearing in skin and body care products and we noticed that some skin care companies were starting to sell oral supplements. The ‘Beauty from Within’ concept took off and we saw the opportunity for our customers to extend their ranges to include natural beauty products. With this in mind, in December 2004, DCC acquired Laleham Healthcare, the market leader in the manufacture of liquids & creams. In a very short space of time many of our customers were selling products that Laleham had produced and some of Laleham’s existing customers were buying tablets & capsules.
An Exciting Future
As our portfolio had extended beyond nutraceuticals we decided that we needed a new name and ‘DCC Health & Beauty Solutions Ltd’ was born. Our overriding objective is to align ourselves to our customers’ own strategies for growth and supply them with the products that they want. They want something new and we try to provide it.
While DCC Health & Beauty Solutions’ three member companies make different products and operate from separate specialised facilities, all three have one very important thing in common: CUSTOMER FOCUS. This is evident in every single department at every single site. We do not have standard products or procedures, each product and each procedure is designed to suit the customer. This can make our life quite complex at times but it makes our customers’ lives much easier!
